The Test Inspect Group has developed a suite of practical, web-based tools designed to support engineers, inspectors and welding professionals with common technical tasks encountered during inspection, qualification and procedure development.

Originally developed for internal use to improve consistency and efficiency across our own operations, these tools are now being made freely available to support wider industry use.

The tools are intended to assist with the interpretation and application of relevant standards and requirements, helping users make informed technical decisions quickly and accurately.

What the tools support

The current suite includes utilities to assist with:

  • Interpretation of welder qualification requirements to ISO and ASME standards

  • Assessment of qualification ranges and applicability

  • Review and verification of material certification data

  • Calculation of welding pre-heat requirements

  • Recording and management of run-out times and weld lengths

  • Generation of clear, structured outputs suitable for inclusion within WPS and supporting documentation

All tools are designed with a focus on clarity, usability and traceability, producing outputs that can be readily reviewed, checked and retained as part of project records.

Designed for real-world use

These tools are built around the way inspection, testing and welding activities are carried out in practice. By providing immediate results and structured outputs, they help reduce delays, support consistent decision-making and improve overall efficiency.

They are suitable for use by:

  • Inspectors and NDT personnel

  • Welding engineers and supervisors

  • QA / QC teams

  • Training and competency assessors

Important note

The tools are provided as supporting resources and do not replace the need for competent technical judgement, applicable standards, client specifications or regulatory requirements. Users remain responsible for ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant codes, standards and contractual obligations.
