Our Mechanical testing laboratory
Our Mechanical testing laboratory offers an unrivaled testing service that can quickly and efficiently witness, machine, and destructively test your components, joints, products, and other items.
The techniques available cover everything from non-destructive testing such as dye penetrant, radiography, ultrasonics, and magnetic particle testing to chemical analysis and positive material identification using OES, Charpy, Tensile, or Hardness testing of materials.
Our mechanical testing team can tailor the perfect destructive testing method or combination of tests to ensure the absolute integrity of your components, materials, and products.
What we do?
Test Inspect facilities are equipped and staffed to provide a range of expert services to the engineering, decommissioning, and materials sectors including

On-site and laboratory non-destructive testing (UT, PT, MT, RT, PMI, RI, OES and XRF).

Destructive and materials testing, including tensile, hardness, fracture, and Charpy up to 300 J / 600 kN / 60 tonne capacity.

Cumbria
Based at Lillyhall Workington, our Cumbria base houses 2 radiation compounds with the ability to undertake x ray and gamma radiography of components up to 8 meters in length. In addition to radiography our Lillyhall base has over 18 dedicated staff working both on and off site undertaking NDT, paint inspection and welding inspection.
Manchester
Working from Bury our Manchester staff operate from a central geographic location servicing Manchester, Liverpool and Cheshire, Hull and Birmingham.
Manchester houses our dedicated team of NDT techs specialising in Ultrasonic Testing, Phased array and Time of Flight.
Southampton
Our latest facility is in Totton, Southampton. The new NDT facility houses our largest radiation bay at 11 meters.
In addition to X and Gamma radiography we offer penetrant, magnetics and ultrasonics from Southampton both within our dedicated building or out on clients sites.

ISO 9001 UKAS Accreditation for the delivery of Non Destructive Testing, Welding and Paint Inspection, heat treatment, scintillation testing and training – this is audited by World Certification Services.
