Last week we introduced our 52-week communications roadmap. This week we explain how it works. The idea is simple: clarity creates momentum. When colleagues, customers and our local communities can see what we are doing and why, it becomes easier to work together, ask questions and spot opportunities.

Why a roadmap?

Test Inspect Group brings together several specialist businesses: Flawed, Responsive Southampton, Responsive Training Services, JML Inspection, RadPro and Smart Test Technologies. Between them they cover testing, inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), radiography, materials testing and training, from sites in Cumbria, Durham and Southampton.

That breadth is a strength, but it can also make us harder to understand from the outside, and sometimes from the inside too. A planned, year-long roadmap gives us a steady way to show the whole group, one business and one person at a time, rather than telling our story in fits and starts.

How it works, week by week

The roadmap runs for 52 weeks and is organised into phases. We are currently in the Foundation phase, where we introduce the roadmap itself, our shared purpose, our businesses and the rhythm we will follow. Each week has:

  • A theme and a pillar. This week the pillar is Programme, because we are explaining how the programme itself runs.

  • A clear outcome. One sentence describing what the week should achieve. This week's is "Clarity creates momentum."

  • A colleague story. A short, self-recorded video from someone across the group, shared first with colleagues through our internal Team@ update.

  • An external story. A post on LinkedIn, followed by Facebook and Instagram, linking to a fuller article like this one on testinspect.com.

Every piece is checked for facts and approved before it goes out. We do not show customers, customer sites or commercially sensitive information unless it has been agreed. That matters in safety-critical work, and it is part of being accountable and reliable in how we communicate, not just in how we test.

People first, video first

Three principles shape everything in the roadmap: People First, Video First and Purpose Always. In practice, that means you will hear directly from the people who do the work, in their own words, rather than from polished marketing copy.

This week: meet Flawed

Our second leadership introduction comes from The head of inspection and tested at Flawed, Gareth McNally

Gareth is proud of the Flawed team and its achievements within the business and what it contributes to the communities around us and the group as a whole.

Why it matters

Our purpose is Saving Lives. Protecting Communities. The testing and inspection our teams carry out helps make sure that critical equipment, structures and materials are safe to use. That work is often out of sight, which is exactly why we want to show it, and the people behind it, more clearly.

For customers, a regular rhythm means you can see who we are, what each business does and who to talk to. For people thinking about a career with us, it is an honest look at the teams you could join. For our communities in Cumbria, Durham and Southampton, it is a chance to see the skilled work happening on your doorstep.

Testing doesn't have to be testing. Understanding who we are shouldn't be either.

What's next

Over the coming weeks we will continue introducing the businesses and leaders across the group, building a clearer picture of one Test Inspect Group, week by week.

Follow Test Inspect Group on LinkedIn and Facebook to see each new story, or get in touch if you would like to talk to one of our teams.
