Mathew Tomkinson
Mat is Managing Director of Responsive Training Services, the Group's accredited training provider based at Lillyhall in Workington. He is responsible for delivering the Group's NDT, welding, quality, health and safety and employability training, much of it for the nuclear sector and the Sellafield supply chain. He also makes sure RTS maintains its accreditations and meets the regulatory and quality standards its clients and awarding bodies expect.
Mat began his career in the Royal Engineers, serving six years as a welder fabricator. On leaving the forces he moved into teaching as a welding instructor, which led him to RTS in April 2019. Since then he has qualified to PCN Level 2 in magnetic particle and dye penetrant testing and grown into his current role. He is hands on by nature and just as comfortable in the workshop as he is behind a screen, whether that is delivering a practical session, building a quality system or developing the tools that keep the business running smoothly.
Outside of work, most of Mat's time is spent with his wife, daughter and dog, and running Northern Warrior Fitness, the strength, conditioning and HYROX gym he has co-owned since 2023. When he gets the chance he is out mountain biking or snowboarding, and he is rarely far from a good coffee.
