John Lidster
John founded JML Inspection in 2015, providing NDT, welding inspection and third-party vendor inspection from its base in Durham. Since December 2024 he has also been a director of Test Inspect Group, running the Group's operations in the North East.
He has worked in non-destructive testing since 2006, and much of that time has been spent at height and offshore. As a rope access NDT technician and radiographer he worked on North Sea platforms including Brent Charlie, Tern Alpha and North Cormorant, with Bilfinger Salamis, Oceaneering, Stork, AMEC and Applus RTD. He has also worked overseas, in Dubai with OES Oilfield Services and in Houston on automated ultrasonic pipeline inspection with Shaw Pipeline Services.
Across oil and gas, nuclear and renewables, that is the experience he brings to every JML job. He knows what a result has to stand up to, because he has produced them in some of the hardest places there are to work.
Outside work, family comes first, and most of John's spare time goes on coaching his boys' football teams.
